Australian and Aboriginal Art News: The coveted 26th Telstra National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Award competition was held on the 15th of August 2009 in Darwin.

The $40,000 Telstra Art Award went to Danie Mellor for his work, Rite to Ritual.
The $4,000 Telstra General Painting Award went to Yinarupa Nangala for her untitled work with the rockhole site Mukala, east of Jupiter well in WA.
The $4,000 Telstra Bark Painting Award went to Rerrkirrwanga Munungurr for her work Gumatj Gurtha.
The $4,000 Telstra Works on Paper Award went to Glen Namundja his work Likkanaya & Marrayka.
The $4,000 Telstra Wandjuk Marika Three-Dimensional Memorial Award went to Janine McAullay Bott for her work Dhalkatj - Bilby.
